Whitebird sanctioned: what holders should do

On July 24, 2026, the EU Council adopted Decision (CFSP) 2026/1847, prohibiting transactions with Belarusian cryptocurrency providers starting August 25, 2026. Whitebird — the largest Belarusian crypto service — is at the center of the new sanctions package.
What the EU decided
- Prohibition on any transactions with Belarusian crypto providers from August 25, 2026.
- Asset freezes for linked individuals and entities.
- Whitebird addresses are already being flagged as "sanctioned" in AML tools (Crystal, TRM Labs).
What it means for holders
Before August 25, 2026
- Withdrawals are still possible, but exchanges and swap services are tightening checks.
- Any address that received funds from Whitebird is flagged in AML systems.
After August 25, 2026
- All Whitebird addresses are on the EU consolidated sanctions list.
- Transfers from Whitebird = automatic "tainting" of your wallet.
- Withdrawals to major exchanges (Binance, Coinbase) — blocked.
Between the sanctions publication (July 24) and the effective date (August 25) is one month. This window allows anyone with funds on Whitebird to withdraw to non-sanctioned addresses. After August 25, any withdrawal = transferring a sanctioned "dirty" balance.
How to check an address
